How the analyzer scores players

Every player gets a value score from 0 to 100, built from five weighted components:

40%

Fantasy production

Points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, threes, and shooting percentages β€” weighed against the average at the player's position, not just raw totals.

20%

Usage rate

How much of his team's offense runs through him. Higher usage means a more reliable floor and more chances to produce every night.

15%

Availability

Games played this season plus current injury status. A great per-game player who never suits up isn't helping your roster.

15%

Recent trend

The last 14 days versus the season baseline, so a rising role or a cooling streak moves the number β€” not just season-long noise.

10%

Efficiency

True Shooting percentage against the league average, rewarding players who score without dragging down your field-goal and free-throw categories.

Context the raw numbers miss

On top of the base score, three context modifiers capture the situational edges that decide real fantasy value:

Team pace

Players on top-five pace teams get a bump for the extra possessions; bottom-five pace teams take a small hit.

Injury opportunity

When a key teammate at the same position is out, the player in line for those minutes gets a boost β€” and the verdict tells you why.

Current injury

Questionable, doubtful, or out tags apply a penalty scaled to severity, with the status surfaced right on the player card.

Frequently asked questions

How does the fantasy trade analyzer work?+

Each player gets a 0–100 value score built from five weighted components β€” fantasy production, usage rate, availability, recent trend, and efficiency β€” then adjusted for context like team pace, injuries, and same-position openings. Add players to each side and the tool totals the value and calls a winner.

Is this fantasy basketball trade analyzer free?+

Yes. NBAToolbox is completely free, with no sign-up and no paywall. Analyze as many trades as you want.

What data does it use?+

Live NBA season averages and advanced stats (usage rate, true shooting, team pace) plus current injury status and depth charts. Recent form comes from the last 14 days of games.

Does it account for injuries and role changes?+

It does. A player's own injury status applies a penalty, and when a teammate at the same position is sidelined, the player set to absorb those minutes gets an opportunity boost that's explained in the verdict.

Does it work for points leagues and category leagues?+

The value score blends scoring and category contributions (including steals, blocks, threes, and shooting), so it gives a sound read for both points and roto/category formats.
